I slacked off a bit on pictures on this trip, but it was a very pretty day.
A nice loop in the Belknaps.
We wanted something reasonably short , not too much elevation gain, but still entertaining and with some views.

The last peak in the Belknaps that I had not summitted. Been curious about it for a while, but never got to it. Only moderately interested, but Sunday seemed a good opportunity.
Not a super peak for views, but there were some ... and a consolation prize on the way home :)

Having just resolved to do more hikes with other people, naturally my first hike of 2015 was solo. I actually had planned a longer hike, in Pawtuckaway, with TLV, but turned out she didnt want to do that after all. A last minute check with one other possible hiker showed he already had other plans ...

One of the good things about going solo is it's easy to switch targets and times. Up until 1 am watching Phil Lesh and JRAD on NY Eve. No drinking, but that's pretty late for me. I slept in, leaving not a lot of time.
This looked like a good time for a small Belknap hike. So off I went, for Mt Shannon and the Goat Pasture Hill.

It was kind of a challenging weekend ... we decided to join a New England Over 50 Hiking meetup hike for Saturday. Meeting time 10 AM; with a 2.5 hour drive that meant getting out early. Not a big deal on the face of it, but ... my last winter hike was last season, and my last hike of any kind was almost two months ago.
Equipment got moved during house and family projects; it took me until 11.30 Friday night to get organized enough to finally decide I could go to bed and pack up in the morning - if I got up early.
Didn't want to be late for our first meetup! So with 5.5 hrs sleep we were on the road to Conway.

So with a one-day window before the rain predicted, my boss graciously let me take Friday off on almost no notice
Ah Friday! No crowds, ample parking everywhere.
Despite it being foliage season and a perfect day, there were only 2 cars at the trailhead on 302.
All the way out to Resolution I only saw two people, descending Crawford.
