I usually am a pretty late starter. Way too often that means I miss some of the nicest part of the hiking day.
So on this trip I managed to actually get up fairly early and be on the trail by about 7.
I didn't get the kind of views I usually try for ... but it wasn't a wasted day :)

It has seemed to me for a long time that there's a somewhat disparaging attitude about Tecumseh.
It's kind of the Rodney ("I don't get no respect")Dangerfield of the White Mountains ...
Perhaps because it's not as difficult a hike as many (if not all) of the 48; or maybe it's the proximity to the ski area.
Or maybe the mostly wooded views.
Recently there was a bit of a stir over some unofficial (and presumably uncondoned ) "viewscaping".
Someone took a saw and opened up a fairly obscured summit.
Approve or not, there's no denying the summit offers a pretty decent view now!

After the latest snowstorm thought it might be interesting to go to Pawtuckaway again.
It was either that or go to the gym. Glad I chose the mountain :)

Not much time to hike this weekend, but with the warm weather and clear skies today I thought I'd best get out.
Thought it might be fun to huck the long glass up South Pawtuckaway and maybe get a few shots of Portsmouth and Mt Belknap...

Bear Brook has two Adirondack style shelters that I know of, one at Smith Pond and one ... lost.
Actually, a fair number of people know where it is, but there is no trail and it is not mapped.
I hope it stays that way ...
